Let me guess. You got into this business to help people, not to write captions.
You became a financial advisor because you like solving real problems for real families. Or you became a Realtor because you love the moment someone walks into a house and goes quiet because they know it's the one. Nobody got into either career dreaming about blog posts, email newsletters, or figuring out what on earth to post on LinkedIn on a Tuesday.
And yet here we are. Because in both of these businesses, people don't hire who's best. They hire who they know, remember, and trust. Marketing is how you get remembered before someone needs you.
That's why I started Castle Advisory.
Twenty years on the other side of the desk
I've spent 20+ years in marketing and communications. I've written for advisors, sat in on compliance reviews, rewritten "client-centric holistic solutions" more times than I can count, and learned what actually gets a reader to keep reading.
I also hold a California real estate license (since 1997) and spent three years as a mortgage loan officer. So I've seen the money side and the house side. I know what it feels like to sit across from someone making one of the biggest financial decisions of their life, and I know how much of that decision comes down to trust.
Here's what I noticed in all those years: the people clients trust most are often the hardest to find online. Their websites are stiff. Their LinkedIn hasn't been touched since 2019. Their newsletter, if they have one, reads like it was written by a very polite filing cabinet.
Meanwhile, they're brilliant in person. Warm, funny, sharp, and genuinely great at what they do. The gap between who they are and how they show up online is enormous.
Closing that gap is my whole job.
Why financial advisors and Realtors?
At first glance, these look like two different worlds. One talks about portfolios and retirement income. The other talks about square footage and closing dates.
But look closer and it’s the same job. Your clients trust you with the moments that change their financial lives: buying a first home, selling the family house, retiring, inheriting, starting over. Those moments are emotional, high stakes, and full of questions people are a little embarrassed to ask.
That means your marketing has the same three jobs:
Show people who you are before they need you.
Explain what you do in plain English.
Make it easy and comfortable to take the next step.
Advisors and Realtors also send each other a lot of business. The couple buying their first home will need a financial plan. The retiree downsizing will need an agent. The professionals who market themselves well end up on each other's referral lists.
What Castle Advisory actually does
I help small advisory firms, RIAs, and real estate professionals with the marketing that builds trust over time:
Brand and messaging. Figuring out what makes you different and saying it in a way people remember.
Website copy. Turning "we provide comprehensive solutions" into something a human would want to read, and something AI will find and recommend.
Content. Blog posts, newsletters, and social posts that sound like you on a good day.
LinkedIn. A realistic, sustainable plan that doesn't require you to become an influencer.
For advisors, everything I write is built with compliance in mind. I know the difference between helpful and promissory, and I build in time for your firm's review instead of treating it like an afterthought. For Realtors, I’ve held a California real estate license since 1997, so DRE numbers, brokerage disclosures and fair housing rules are built in from the start.
What I believe about marketing
A few things I'll be writing about here twice a month:
Consistency beats brilliance. A good post every week for a year will do more for you than one viral moment.
Plain language wins. If your mom wouldn't understand your website, your prospects won't either.
Personality is not unprofessional. You can be credible and still sound like a person. In fact, people trust you more when you do.
Marketing is trust generation, not lead generation. The goal isn't to trick someone into a call. It's to be the name that comes up when a friend asks, "Do you know anyone good?"
So, hello
If you're a financial advisor or a Realtor who knows your marketing should be better but you'd honestly rather do your taxes than write another bio, you're in the right place.
Pull up a chair. Read a few posts. And when you're ready to talk about how to show up online the way you show up in person, I'd love to hear from you.
