Great content doesn’t start in Canva. Or Google Docs. Or AI.
It starts the same way a good listing does: with a walkthrough.
I talk with a lot of financial advisors and Realtors who want help with content. They are not short on ideas. They have 20 years of expertise, three or four services, and sometimes a half-written book living in a drawer.
That’s the problem.
Their expertise is like a house someone has lived in for 20 years. Every room is full. Every closet is stuffed. There’s nothing wrong with any of it, but you can’t show it like that.
I’ve held a California real estate license since 1997, so trust me on this one: nobody falls in love with a house by touring the garage first.
Here’s How I’d Stage It:
The foundation is your core idea, the one thing that ties everything you do together. Skip it and every post points in a different direction, and people can’t tell what you actually do.
The rooms are your big ideas: your methods, your philosophy, the things that take time to explain. A room deserves a guide, a series, a workshop, or a book chapter.
The details are the crown molding and the great natural light. Each one belongs to a room, but you can show it off in a single post.
So you don’t have to say everything at once. Pick one room and stage it for a few months. Write one longer piece that walks people through it, then share short posts that each highlight one detail. Then move on to the next room.
One more thing. Plenty of people get compliments on their content for years and still get every client through referrals. Beautiful house, zero offers.
Before you stage a room, make sure it connects to three things:
A pain point: the problem this idea solves.
Your point of view: what you believe that others in your field don’t.
An offer: what someone can hire you to do about it.
If you have ten ideas and only three of them lead to something you sell, start with those three.
This works best if you’ve been at it a while and have more ideas than places to put them. If that’s you, the open house is Sunday. Which room are you showing first?
